Aladdin Restaurant

Aladdin is located on Luolang Alley just behind the Sheraton-Kingsley. Go there if you’re craving kebab and Xinjiang cuisine.

  1. …sucks. it’s expensive and horribly down. outrageous how they can want to compete with the chinese place next door - food there is good - called tiaojingqu

but the xinjiang kebab is good. then again, if it’s kebab, then i prefer the outlet on wangfudajie instead.

  2. Think they were going for Xinjiang food and not Iranian. That said, I was a little disappointed as I had heard good things generally, I thought it was barely mediocre, the lamb kebabs were decent, without them it would have been pretty bad.

  3. enough said.

nanjing needs an ACTUAL iranian restaurant with kebabs and koobideh. oh, let’s not forget the gormeh sabzi, fatoush salads, polo and lavash bread!!!

    i sure miss home.

  4. I’ve had many a good meal there. Prices are reasonable and the menu is quite extensive - as well as being in English and with some photos of the dishes. You can’t miss this place - walk down the road from the Sheraton and you’ll smell the kebabs (yangrou chuan) cooking over charcoal.

They have a sister restaurant on Wangfu Da Jie call Keci Guli, that also sells the breads and spicy lamb kebabs from the window at the front.

You can order everything from cold salad dishes up to a whole lamb. Whole lambs need to be booked in advance and cost about RMB780 but will feed about 20 people. For smaller groups of about 7 or 8 people, order the whole leg of lamb. Book 24 hours in advance.

  5. i think the food’s not cheap and not that great here. but the bread’s goood.
