Red Date Cake

I spotted this store at Taiping South Road 太平南路 [tai4ping2nan2lu4], and love their cakes.
Red dates are used in Chinese cuisine as tonics and also to give soups a flavoring. The sign behind tells you its known properties, which include helping you calm your mind and inhibiting growth of cancer cells.
I like the Taiping South Road shop best. There are similar-looking outlets all over the city, but this one’s the best in my opinion! This shop is just a 10 minute walk from Xinjiekou and very close by the Meihuagao Man.
