Up the Bamboo Forest

Take bus number 68 up to the Cherry Blossom Garden 樱花公园 [ying1hua1gong1yuan2] stop. From here, you can do at least two things. (1) Visit the not-very-centrally-located Airforce Memorial; (2) Climb the Purple Gold Mountain via a couple of trails.
This time round, we tried a trail that led us up not the mountain, but up a mound and down again. Of course, we were fortunate enough to get lost nearby a military outpost where kind-hearted military men decided against putting us in detention…
Besides the gloriously aromatic climb up the mound, we also became Crouching Tigers and Hidden Dragons for that brief moment…

Undeterred, we added another member to the team (guess who?) and made it up the mountain.
