From the White Horse Park area 白马公园 [bai2ma3gong1yuan2] area, you can choose to do two things. It’s quite clear why from the map below. Because this area lies smack in between the mountain and the lake, you can visit either one of choice: to stroll the eastern side of Xuanwu Lake, or to climb the Purple Gold Mountain from the western slope?
The eastern side of the Xuanwu Lake is a place for a stroll, a jog or a picnic. It’s free for all so long as you do not opt to enter the islands in the middle of the lake. Don’t be afraid. Just walk in the direction of the arrows if your desire is to climb the mountain.
