Biking Nanjing

You’ll see a license plate on every vehicle, including the humble bicycle. Can you find the license plate of the bike in the foreground of the picture above?
To get a bike, you can either buy new ones at places like Walmart or second hand ones in shops along certain streets, like Feng Huang West Road 凤凰西街 [feng4huang2xi1jie1] for example. If you buy a bike from them, make sure that licensing comes as part of the deal. Most used bikes already have licenses.
If something goes wrong with your bike, don’t be afraid to get them repaired by the man on the street.

But remember to buy a lock to lock your bike like this one here…

Last of all, don’t be surprised if you park your bike along the street, and an attendant comes over to you to ask for payment. Certain ‘parking spaces’ are not for free - usually in certain parts of Gulou or Xinjiekou as well as places where alot of people park their bikes. It should cost about 2 mao which equals 20 cents. If not queried, there’s no need to look around for the parking attendant. : )
I don’t think bike plates are the most important thing (no-one ever checks because there’s too many to crack down on) but definitely make sure your bike has a bell or a horn or something that makes a loud noise (an air-horn is advisable) as you’ll need it. About every 5-10 seconds when someone cuts you off or is aimlessly walking slowily in front of you.
yes its a little bit expensive
25 is enough
My tyre was flat, and so I went to a roadside bike repair man. In the end, he proved to me that the inner tube worth a change, while the (outer) tyre tracks were just too worn out. I paid 40 yuan for both tyre and inner tube. Is that too expensive?
my friend says that you just ask the bike shop managers to do that for you. it’s cost a couple of ten yuan so 20 is a good number.
where? go to tangzijie to scout for bikes.
