Small Blue Whale

Xiao2Lan2Jing1 (小蓝鲸) is the name of the place.
Jing (鲸) means ‘whale’. So this place must mean ’small blue whale.’ They have two outlets on Wangfudajie. The one you see below sits next to Jack’s Place, and so is easy to find. The other one sits across the street next to a dvd shop. You have to walk further down the street.

The food here is a personal favorite. It’s simple and good. It can fill up especially on the weekends. One of the dishes that they do well is 秘方红烧肉 [mi4fang1hong2shao1rou4]. It’s part lean meat and part fat, but awesome fat…

Below is a dish called 麻辣豆腐 [ma2la4dou4fu4]. Simply translated, it’s ’spicy tofu.’ One easy dish to order whether here or in other chinese restaurants…

Next is a vegetable dish. It’s called 蒜茸空心菜 [suan4rong2kong1xin1cai4]. Simple to make and nice to eat…

Other nice dishes here include
* 干煸四季豆 [gan1bian1si4ji4dou4]: which is long beans fried with red chillis.
* 六和头道菜 [liu4he2tou2dao4cai4]: it came in soup form, and the soup has mushrooms, some greens, and these round balls made of vegetable and pork.
