Cantonese Cuisine (Qiji)
Sep 24th, 2008 under Food (Others)
Well, I did remember someone lamenting the locational demise of Zhenji, a Cantonese eatery close by 1912.
Here’s another one I enjoyed. It’s called Qiji, and it’s conveniently located right opposite the back gate to Nanjing Normal University. For those not in the know, this road is still called Hankou West Road, the road along which many vendor vends their goods.
This is Hong Kong Cantonese Cuisine, and so you’d have to try the cha1shao1 (叉烧) dish. There’ll be pictures on the menu, it’s really easy to pick and choose.
Below is the interior of the restaurant - from whence we know it’s also called Jackey’s Cafe.

If you want an authentic hong kong dining experience, jackeys is the closest thing youll get.
Everything about it, the modern, clean, yet casual decor and ambiance. The polite and prompt service. The speed of food delivery. Dim sum cart. HK style milk tea, yuanyang milk tea (yingyang in canto) - coffee mixed with hk style milk tea, the best!
all the food is delicious, and from every aspect of the restaurant, i can tell a hongkonger is running this joint. Everything except the lack of cantonese chatter screams hong kong about this place. It’s great. Chashao and chashao buns for sure. and the classic dim sum (har gao, xiu mai, etc.)
