Big Meat Noodles

Today, my Nanjing friend Gaoyan took me out on a mid-autumn tour. No falling leaves of green and gold. Just the smog and noise of the busy city.
What sparked my imagination though was the street in front of Sofitel Hotel. A small rundown street called 大和街 [da4he2jie1].
The chinese words on the shop’s signboard read 詹园面馆 [zhan1yuan2mian4guan3]. From the outside, it looks like any other noodle shop in Nanjing. But my friend, with forty years of Nanjinghood within, speaks nostalgically of the demise of such shops in our lives.
“This is the real Nanjing,” he says.
A slab of pork meat. With noodles and veggies in a saucy soup.
7.5yuan. Tasty, delicious.

Your IELTS teacher will ask you to elaborate why it is ” real Nanjing” . Pehaps I can give you an in-depth writing about it, besides my 40 year of Nanjinghoodnessity. Ciao - Gaoyan
