Jinxinglou Hotel: TCM Uni

And this is a hotel where foreigners get to stay in if they take short courses etc. It’s called Jinxing Lou 金兴楼 [jin1xing4lou2]. You can also eat lunch and dinner at the restaurant here. There are two blocks, the A and B block. The A block houses most guests, while the B block is where students stay, especially those on scholarship.
If you’re at Jinxing Lou with the back to the main entrance, you’ll be looking at a downward slope that leads to Hanzhong Road. Walking down it, you’ll see this store on your left that sells phone cards, drinks and snacks. It’s a good place to get phone cards. Here it is…
Now, where do you eat?
Not a bad hotel for the price. Especially for students (we get discounts). Sure, once they forgot that I already paid, but we got it all sorted out. Their english is horrible here, but dont let that stop you from staying here. With some point, grunting and calculator use, it all works out.
Rooms are fairly clean and normal china sized. The place is very quiet by chinese standards as its not right on the road. Your room “can” have internet, but make sure to ask when you check in. They will need to send someone to install the password on your computer. (Oh yeah, bring your own computer if you want internet in the hotel). If you dont have a computer, there are plenty of internet clubs around if you know what to look for.
Of course the rooms have western style toliets, and nice hot showers. Like most other places, no bathtubs. Towels are clean daily, etc.
To summarize: Nothing special for china, but reliable, cheap and quiet. Not to mention if you are studying at the TCM university, its right on campus. Even if you are not, the location is not bad over-all. Just a 9 yuan taxi to xinjiekou (the heart of the shopping district).
