Where do you eat?
- First of all, there is the canteen aka 食堂 [shi2tang2].
- Then, there is the Dream Butterfly Restaurant.
And then, there’s the wider world out there. Check this page for a brief infroduction.
And for places nearby where grub is dub…
- KFC? (just opposite the main gate to the building.)
- Korean food on the road parallel to Hanzhong Road behind KFC.
- Fujian cheap meal. Just point to the dishes you see others eating. It’s cheap and safer than mosts. Order the soups.
- Nepalese. This is good stuff.
- Italian? This is the best you get in the location you’re in.
- Exquisite Buddhist Vegetarian!
If you walk along Hanzhong Road eastward toward Xinjiekou, make a left after seeing Sheraton Hotel on your right… There’s food here too.

Other universities in the area?
Shit ang indeed. The nanjing medical university shitang is much much better. Not to mention the selection is big and the food is extra cheap. They even have some Malaysian food which is a nice change.
i know which nearby uni you’re talking about.
the shi tang in nanjing medical university (closer to where jimmy’s is) is sooooooooooo much better. the shit ang here is of horrid quality. for breakfast, roadside food is not as bad as you’d expect. in fact some of the buns and burittos (???) are really good.
Looking for something cheap and different? Other near by universities also have shi tang’s (canteens).
Short visit and need some food from “home”? Jimmys Pizza is just down the road on han zhong lu. You can find some reviews about it here on the site. Take it all in with a grain of salt. Everybody has an opinion these days
Get a burger, fries, pizza, coke or beer there. Has a pool table, FREE wireless if you havent figured out where to get internet yet, and likely some random english TV playing.
